More improvements and new options
We’ve recently implemented a handful of improvements and upgrades to our honeymoon gift list service that we’d like to tell you about.
Firstly, we’ve overhauled our password security. Your account passwords are now stored using a very strong cryptographic technique called bcrypt. The advantage of this is that even if someone were to gain unauthorised access to our server (which hasn’t happened), it would nonetheless be effectively impossible for them to obtain your actual password. We’ve been working towards this for a while, but in the light of the incidents at LinkedIn, Yahoo! and elsewhere over the past few weeks, we’re very pleased to have now completed the transition.
We’ve also completely dropped advertising of any kind on the site. Your actual honeymoon registry pages have always been 100% ad-free, but we did experiment with including ads tailored to your honeymoon destination at the foot of your registry-management screens. They’re gone altogether now, as has our “Links” page.
We’ve introduced a couple of new customisation options to accompany our free extra services and settings.
When one of your guests reserves a gift from your wedding list, we send you a notification message by email. If you hit “reply” to this, your email is sent to us, not to your guest. This is so that you can easily raise any queries with us — and so that any queries you do raise aren’t sent to your guests by mistake. However, sometimes couples like to respond individually to guests as gifts come in. We’re always happy to pass on any messages for your guests that are sent to us, but we’ve now introduced an option so that replies to our gift notification emails can be set to go directly to the guest who reserved the gift. If this sounds like it would be useful to you, just let us know and we’ll be more than happy to arrange that for you.
The other option we can now set for you is to remove the Facebook “Like” button from the pages you use to manage your registry. We’d love for you to join us on Facebook, but we understand that some people aren’t comfortable with Facebook being integrated into other sites. Simply contact us if you’d like us to prevent the Like button showing up for you when you log into buy-our-honeymoon.com.
Finally, in response to customer requests, you can now use Mexican Pesos or Jamaican Dollars as display currencies on your honeymoon registry. This brings the total number of currencies available to 34, with 18 available to collect gifts in your PayPal account. Don’t forget, with Buy Our Honeymoon, you can display up to three currencies at the same time on your registry pages, with our system handling currency conversions automatically.
We’re constantly making small adjustments and improvements to our service, to try to provide the best wedding list service we possibly can. If you have any suggestions for features you’d like to see, or changes you’d like us to make, please do contact us, or leave a comment on this post.
