Some gift stats for 2013
Last year, we posted an update on the average value of gifts received by couples using our service — and now we’re nearing the end of 2013, it seems like a good time to check the stats for this year. Who doesn’t like stats?
Many couples make great use of our gift list service without setting up online payments — you can leave payment instructions to guests on making a bank transfer, sending you a cheque, or simply bringing cash on the day of your wedding. But it’s hard to know just from our database which of those gifts were paid, and which might simply have been tests made by the couple themselves. So, we’ve limited our scope to gifts that we know to have been paid, either online through PayPal or GoCardless, or where the couple have marked a cash gift as paid in their Gift History.
Similarly, our service operates internationally, and uses a variety of currencies. To keep things simple, we’ve also limited our scope to gifts valued in British Pounds.
- In 2013, we facilitated more than £1.6 million in gifts!
- The average value of an individual gift was £54.01 — which (if the Daily Mail is to be believed) is £4 more than the national average.
- Couples using our service for weddings in 2013 received, on average, £1720 in gifts — and one of our couples who married in June this year were given an astonishing £19,603 in gifts!
We’ve helped many thousands of couples from all over the world create unique, personal and meaningful wedding registries of honeymoon experiences, activities and contributions towards their honeymoon travel and accommodation. We believe that a honeymoon gift list can be just as appealing to your guests than an assortment of spoons and coasters — maybe more so! And we think the fantastic results seen by couples using our service show that guests love the romance and personality a honeymoon gift list provides.
If you have any queries about setting up your wedding list, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us — we’re more than happy to help.
